When you think of lip balm, you might find yourself picturing a slender plastic tube with a shiny label. When you open your package from Kobee’s, however, you’ll be pleasantly surprised that our lip balm looks nothing like that shiny plastic tube we know all too well. At Kobee’s we don’t aim to be like the others, we aim to do things differently. For us, that started with our simple, natural ingredients and packaging.
Our story begins with the idea of simpler, cleaner lip balm that actually works. When reading the labels of other lip balm brands, our founder, Kobe Harris, found himself unable to recognize, or even pronounce, most of the ingredients on the mile long lists. Kobe believed that ingredients such as octyldodecanol and bis-diglyceryl polyacyladipate-2 didn’t belong in lip balm. Rather, lip balm ingredients should be simple, natural, and easily pronounced. That’s why Kobee’s only uses four main ingredients: beeswax, coconut oil, sunflower seed oil, and mango butter (plus a sweetened flavor oil for our flavored balms). These ingredients are made by and found in nature and are added for a lip benefitting purpose. Beeswax is our base ingredient as a natural emulsifier that heals and softens skin. It is a naturally occurring wax produced by honey bees in the hive and used to build the honeycomb. Coconut oil is packed with rich fatty acids, vitamins, antioxidants, and anti-inflammatory properties that hydrate and plump chapped lips. It is made by pressing coconut meat, or the white insides of the coconut. Sunflower seed oil is abundant with vitamin A and E which act as antioxidants to help regenerate damaged skin cells and promote healthier lips. Similarly to coconut oil, sunflower seed oil is made by pressing hulled sunflower seeds. Finally, mango butter is our magical ingredient that smooths and soothes skin, while also serving as an anti-inflammatory agent and antioxidant. It is fat that originates from mango seeds and is made by cold-pressing the mango seed. Four ingredients with a purpose, nothing extra, no filler.
In your package from Kobee’s you’ll find a chubby, cardboard tube wrapped in a small, colorful label. Although our tubes are cute and compact, they hold greater meaning, in fact, they showcase the reason why we do what we do. Kobee’s is founded on creating minimal impact with maximum benefit. Small, incremental changes, such as opting for compostable, cardboard packaging instead of plastic, can lead to tremendous changes over time. By utilizing 100% compostable lip balm tubes that can have a second life as a soil nourisher and landfill reducer decreases the impact Kobee’s has on our environment. Caring for your lips shouldn’t come at the expense of the environment. You can be confident that the health of our environment is at the forefront of our mind as a company.
Doing things differently doesn’t have to be difficult, in fact, it is so much simpler. That is why, at Kobee’s, we use 100% naturally derived, simple ingredients for our lip balms and packaging that create minimal impact with maximum benefit. When you choose Kobee’s, you can be confident you will be making a small change that can have a tremendous impact. You shouldn’t have to worry about doing research or taking a chemistry class in order to understand the products you use. Our mission is to create lasting, high quality products made from ingredients you can understand just by looking at them. Chemicals and synthetics have no place in our lip balms because nature has everything we need to care for our lips. With simplicity and sustainability at the forefront of what we do, you’ll never be left guessing what’s in your Kobee’s lip balm.
